My name is Rich Johnson. I am a consulting forester for Johnson Service Forestry, LLC.

I first discovered my enjoyment of the outdoors at my grandfather’s home, which was surrounded by a forest. I spent much time exploring the forest around his home which caused my interest in the forest to grow.

I graduated from DuBois Area High School and enrolled at Penn State University in their Forest Science Program. I graduated with a B.S. degree in Forest Science. I began my forestry career at Burke Parsons and Bowlby Corporation in Falls Creek, PA. My job responsibilities were to transport an Amish crew to and from work at their sawmill. I also assisted in scaling logs that were brought into the mill and helped to grade lumber. My next job was with the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry where I was hired as a Forest Maintenance Supervisor in the Tuscarora State Forest in Blain, PA. My job responsibilities were to plan work assignments and supervise six employees. Their responsibilities were to maintain state forest roads and buildings. I also assisted the foresters in marking timber sales. I was promoted to Forest Technician and Forest Fire Inspector for the Weiser State Forest in Elizabeth, PA. My duties were to supervise three employees which were assigned to maintain state forest roads in the Haldeman Division. I was also responsible for supervising the suppression of forest fires in Dauphin and Lebanon Counties and assisting foresters in marking timber and helping private landowners to manage the forest. I was promoted to forester on the Elk State Forest in Emporium, PA. Here, I assisted foresters in marking and administration of timber sales. My last move with the Bureau of Forestry was a transfer to the Moshannon State Forest in Clearfield, Pa. where I served as a forester. Here I was responsible for laying out, marking, contract design, bidding and supervising logging on state forest timber sales. I also assisted private landowners with forest management information. In addition, I promoted forest management education in many schools in Clearfield County. I retired from the PA. Bureau of Forestry with 34 years of forest management experience.

Our forestry service began in January, 2017. We have sold three timber sales, wrote four forest management plans and inspected and re-certified five PA. Tree Farms. I strongly believe that training is an important part of my profession. I continue to attend forest management training opportunities such as Penn State annual Forest Health – Insect and Disease briefing, Penn State bi-annual Private Forest Woodlands Conference and Audubon Forests for the Birds Training.

CHRISTIAN STEWARDSHIP – We believe that Christian Stewardship is an important part of forest management and our future. Christian Stewardship is the acknowledgment that God is the Owner of His Creation. We are his stewards with the responsibility and accountability to manage the forest in a way that pleases Him. Christian stewardship is a plan but also a journey to accomplish that plan.

MISSION: To serve the Lord Jesus by helping people to manage the forest and give the glory to God.
